Anglo-Saxonism

Anglo-Saxonism is a 19th- and early 20th-century belief that emphasizes the cultural and racial superiority of people of Anglo-Saxon descent (such as English and northern Europeans). It promoted the idea that these groups had a special destiny to lead and influence the world through their values, language, and institutions. This belief often justified expansion, imperialism, and the promotion of Western ideals, sometimes supporting racist views. While it celebrated aspects of Anglo-Saxon heritage, it also contributed to notions of racial hierarchy and cultural elitism.
