Ancient Macedonian culture was a blend of Greek traditions with local influences, marked by a strong warrior ethos and respect for aristocratic lineage. They practiced a mix of religious rituals honoring gods like Zeus and local deities. Society was hierarchical, with kings and nobility at the top, and valued martial skill and honor. They contributed to art, architecture, and military innovations, notably developing formidable phalanx tactics. While initially considered less “Greek” by others, Macedonians shared language, religion, and customs with southern Greeks, culminating in their role as key players in the Hellenistic world under Alexander the Great.
