Ancient Egyptian numeral system

The ancient Egyptian numeral system was a hieroglyphic, decimal-based system using specific symbols for values like 1, 10, 100, 1,000, etc. Repeated symbols were combined to represent numbers; for example, a single stroke represented 1, while a lotus flower signified 100, and a scroll symbol denoted 1,000. Numbers were written from largest to smallest left to right, without a positional place value. This system was practical for accounting and record-keeping, enabling Egyptians to efficiently record large sums, such as in trade, taxes, and inventory, using a simple additive approach with repeatable symbols.
