Anaximander of Miletus

Anaximander of Miletus was an ancient Greek philosopher from the 6th century BCE who is considered one of the earliest thinkers to explore the nature of the universe. He proposed that the fundamental substance underlying everything was the "apeiron"—an indefinite, boundless source that generates all things. Anaximander believed the cosmos operates through a natural balance and that humans evolved from earlier life forms. His ideas laid important groundwork in philosophy and early science, emphasizing that understanding the universe requires rational inquiry and observation rather than relying solely on myth or tradition.
