Anatomy of the Pelvis

The pelvis is a bony structure at the lower part of the torso that supports the weight of the upper body and connects the spine to the legs. It consists of two hip bones, the sacrum, and the coccyx. The pelvis forms a bowl-shaped cavity that houses and protects organs like the bladder, reproductive organs, and rectum. It provides attachment points for muscles that control movement and stability of the hips and legs. The pelvis's structure also helps facilitate childbirth in women, with a wider, more rounded shape to accommodate passage during delivery.
