Analytical Dualism
Analytical dualism is a philosophical concept suggesting that mental states (like thoughts and feelings) and physical states (like brain activity) are fundamentally different, yet closely interconnected. It posits that while they are distinct kinds of things—mental versus physical—they influence each other and can be analyzed separately without contradiction. Think of it as recognizing that the mind and brain are different aspects of the same reality: the mind is non-physical, but it depends on the physical brain, and analyzing both provides a fuller understanding of consciousness.
