An Lushan was a notable general in the 8th century during China's Tang Dynasty. He is best known for leading a major rebellion, known as the An Lushan Rebellion, which erupted in 755 AD. This revolt against the Tang government lasted until 763 AD and resulted in significant social and political turmoil, causing widespread destruction and loss of life.
