Amurru (deity)

Amurru is an ancient Sumerian and Akkadian deity associated with desert nomads, pastoralism, and shepherds. Often depicted as a god of the western desert, he is connected to the wilderness and the transition between civilization and nature. Amurru was also considered a god of boundaries and protection, reflecting his role in overseeing lands and travels. He was sometimes portrayed as a lion or a man with a lion's head, symbolizing strength and authority.
