Amun (god)

Amun is an ancient Egyptian god often associated with creation and the sun. Initially a local god of Thebes, he rose to prominence during the New Kingdom, becoming a central figure in Egyptian religion. Amun was frequently depicted as a man with a ram's head or as a ram itself, symbolizing strength and fertility. He was merged with the sun god Ra, becoming known as Amun-Ra, embodying both hidden and visible aspects of divinity. Worship of Amun played a crucial role in pharaonic legitimacy, as rulers sought his favor to assert their power and connect with the divine.
