Amrita Sher-Gil (1913-1941) was a prominent Indian painter, often regarded as one of the pioneers of modern Indian art. Born in Budapest, Hungary, to a Sikh father and a Hungarian Jewish mother, she moved to India and blended Western styles with Indian themes.
