Ammut

Ammut is an ancient Egyptian deity often depicted as a fearsome creature part lion, crocodile, and hippopotamus—animals representing chaos and danger. She is known as the “Devourer of the Dead” and plays a key role in Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife. When a person died, their heart was weighed by Osiris on a scale; if the heart was pure, they were granted eternal life. But if the heart was heavy with sin, Ammut would devour it, symbolizing the person's soul being consumed by chaos and ending their chance for immortality.
