Ammonia Synthesis

Ammonia synthesis is the industrial process of creating ammonia (NH₃), primarily for fertilizers, by combining nitrogen from the air with hydrogen, usually derived from natural gas. This is done using the Haber-Bosch process, where nitrogen and hydrogen gases are heated to high temperatures and pressed under very high pressure in the presence of an iron catalyst. This environment helps the gases react efficiently to produce ammonia. The process is essential for modern agriculture, supporting crop growth and food production worldwide.
