Amine

An amine is a type of chemical compound derived from ammonia, where one or more hydrogen atoms are replaced by organic groups such as chains or rings. These compounds are fundamental in chemistry, especially in producing pharmaceuticals, dyes, and plastics. Structurally, amines contain a nitrogen atom bonded to carbon atoms, and they can be classified as primary, secondary, or tertiary depending on how many organic groups are attached to the nitrogen. Amines often have distinct odors and are involved in many biological processes, including the creation of amino acids and neurotransmitters.
