American colonial period

The American colonial period (roughly 1607–1776) was when European settlers, mainly from Britain, established colonies along the east coast of what is now the United States. During this time, these colonies developed their own governments, economies, and cultures, often influenced by European traditions. Tensions grew over issues like taxation and representation, leading to demands for independence. This era set the foundation for the United States, culminating in the Revolutionary War and the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
