Alutiiq people
The Alutiiq people are Indigenous Indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast and coastal Alaska, historically inhabiting the Kodiak Archipelago and surrounding areas. They have a rich cultural heritage rooted in subsistence hunting, fishing, and gathering, especially of salmon and other marine resources. Traditionally, they lived in semi-permanent villages with homes made from wood and sod, and they created intricate crafts like beadwork and basketry. Today, many Alutiiq people continue to preserve their language, traditions, and cultural practices, actively maintaining their identity within contemporary society.
