Alsatian dialect
Alsatian dialect, or Alsatian, is a variety of the German language spoken primarily in the Alsace region of northeastern France. It belongs to the Alemannic group of dialects, closely related to Swiss German and the dialects of southern Germany. Alsatian features distinct pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar from standard German, influenced by French due to the region's history of conflict and cultural exchange. While it has declined in use among younger generations, efforts are being made to preserve and promote Alsatian as a vital part of regional identity and heritage.
