Alopecia
Alopecia is a condition characterized by hair loss, which can occur in different patterns and severities. It may be temporary or permanent and can affect anyone regardless of age or gender. The most common form, alopecia areata, is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles, leading to patchy bald spots. Other types include androgenetic alopecia, which is hereditary and causes gradual thinning, and telogen effluvium, often triggered by stress or illness, resulting in diffuse hair shedding. While generally not harmful, alopecia can impact self-esteem and emotional well-being, and treatment options vary depending on the type and cause.
