Alliance of the Gauls
The Alliance of the Gauls was a coalition formed by various Celtic tribes in what is now France and surrounding regions during the late Iron Age. It was famously led by Vercingetorix against Julius Caesar's Roman forces around 52 BCE. The alliance aimed to resist Roman conquest and maintain their independence. Despite their efforts, the Romans ultimately defeated the Gauls, leading to the incorporation of the region into the Roman Empire. The alliance is significant for illustrating Celtic unity and resistance prior to Roman dominance in Western Europe.
