Alix of Hesse (Empress Alexandra)

Alix of Hesse, later Empress Alexandra, was a German princess who married Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. She became empress in 1894 and was known for her strong devotion to her family and her faith. Her deep religious beliefs and personal style made her different from traditional Russian nobility. She faced challenges during her husband's reign, especially with political unrest and her son’s illness, which led her to rely heavily on a mystic adviser. Her perceived influence and personal struggles contributed to public opinion during a turbulent time, culminating in her and her family's abdication and tragic ending during the Russian Revolution.
