Alevism
Alevism is a spiritual and cultural tradition within Islam, mainly practiced in Turkey, emphasizing a mystical, philosophical approach to faith. It combines elements of Shia Islam, Sufism, and local customs, focusing on principles like love, tolerance, social justice, and respect for diversity. Alevism detaches from strict religious formalities, often practicing rituals in communal gatherings called cem ceremonies. It promotes gender equality and values education and charity. While sharing core Islamic beliefs, Alevism is distinct in its practices and theology, fostering a sense of community and spiritual connection beyond orthodox doctrines.
