Alderfer's ERG model
Alderfer's ERG model is a way to understand human motivation through three core needs: Existence (basic survival needs like food and safety), Relatedness (social connections and relationships), and Growth (personal development and achieving potential). Unlike older models, ERG suggests these needs can be pursued simultaneously, and if one isn't met, people may focus more on another. For example, if social needs are unmet, someone might shift focus to finding safety or personal achievement. This model emphasizes flexibility in motivation, recognizing that different needs can influence behavior at the same time.
