albuminuria

Albuminuria is the presence of a protein called albumin in the urine. Normally, the kidneys filter waste from the blood while keeping important proteins like albumin inside the body. When the kidneys are damaged or become less effective, small amounts of albumin can leak into the urine. Detecting albuminuria helps identify early kidney problems and assess the risk of diseases like diabetes and hypertension. It is often measured with a urine test called a microalbumin test, and early detection can aid in preventing further kidney damage and related health complications.
