Albanian State Security
Albanian State Security was the secret police and intelligence agency operating from the 1920s until the early 1990s. It was responsible for monitoring, controlling, and suppressing political opposition, dissidents, and perceived threats to the socialist government. The agency conducted surveillance, arrests, and interrogations to maintain the Communist regime’s power. It played a key role in enforcing state policies and limiting personal freedoms, often through clandestine and coercive methods. After the fall of communism, the organization was dismantled, and its activities and methods have been subject to criticism and investigation regarding human rights abuses.
