The Aksumite Kingdom was an ancient civilization in what is now Ethiopia and Eritrea, flourishing from around 100 CE to 940 CE. Known for its impressive architecture, including obelisks and tombs, it was a major trading power connecting Africa, Arabia, and the Mediterranean. Aksum was one of the first kingdoms to adopt Christianity, making it a significant religious center. It also developed a unique writing system and minted its own coins. The kingdom played a key role in regional politics and commerce, leaving a lasting legacy as a center of early African civilization and Christian history.
