AJK (Azad Jammu and Kashmir)
Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is a self-governing region under Pakistani administration, located in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent. It was established following the partition of British India in 1947 and the subsequent conflict between India and Pakistan over Kashmir. AJK has its own government and legislative assembly, but Pakistan manages defense, foreign affairs, and some key policies. The region features diverse landscapes, including mountains, forests, and rivers. While it enjoys a degree of autonomy, its political status remains part of the broader Kashmir conflict, with aspirations among many residents for greater self-determination.
