AIP Model (Adaptive Information Processing Model)
The Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) Model suggests that the brain naturally processes and stores experiences to help us adapt. When we encounter stressful or traumatic events, our brain might not fully integrate these memories, causing them to remain unresolved. This can lead to emotional distress or symptoms like anxiety and fear. Therapy based on the AIP Model aims to help reprocess these memories, allowing the brain to store them adaptively and reduce their negative impact. Essentially, it supports the brain’s ability to heal by updating and integrating past experiences in a healthier way.
