Aimé Césaire was a Martinican poet, playwright, and politician, born in 1913 and passed away in 2008. He is best known for his role in the négritude movement, which celebrated Black culture and identity in response to colonialism. Césaire’s influential works, such as his poem "Cahier d'un retour au pays natal" ("Notebook of a Return to My Native Land"), explore themes of identity, colonialism, and the African diaspora. He also served as a deputy in the French National Assembly and was an advocate for the rights and recognition of Caribbean cultures and peoples.
