AIDS denialism
AIDS denialism is the belief that HIV, the virus associated with AIDS, either does not cause the disease or that AIDS is not a result of HIV infection. Some deny the existence of HIV altogether, while others argue that the virus is harmless or that AIDS can develop without HIV. These views contradict extensive scientific evidence showing that HIV causes AIDS and that antiretroviral treatments effectively manage the virus. AIDS denialism can lead individuals to refuse testing or treatment, increasing health risks and hindering efforts to control the epidemic.
