Ai Khanoum was an ancient city in Central Asia, founded around 300 BCE, during the Hellenistic period following Alexander the Great’s conquests. Located in present-day Afghanistan, it was a vibrant center of Greek culture, blending Greek, Persian, Indian, and Central Asian influences. The city featured Greek-style architecture, artwork, and a marketplace, demonstrating a diverse and cosmopolitan society. Ai Khanoum played a key role in regional trade and cultural exchange before declining around the 2nd century CE. Today, it is an important archaeological site, providing insight into the fusion of Greek and Asian civilizations in antiquity.
