Agricultural Methane

Agricultural methane is a potent greenhouse gas produced during farming processes, primarily through the digestion of organic waste by livestock (especially cattle) and the decomposition of manure and crop residues. When animals like cows digest food, their stomachs produce methane, which they release mainly through belching. Additionally, manure stored in certain conditions creates an environment where methane is generated. This gas contributes significantly to climate change because it traps heat in the atmosphere more effectively than carbon dioxide. Managing manure, improving feed, and adopting sustainable farming practices can help reduce agricultural methane emissions.
