Agent-Causation

Agent-causation is a philosophical concept that suggests individuals (agents) can be the true source of their actions, as opposed to their decisions being entirely determined by prior events or external factors. In this view, agents have the ability to create new possibilities through their deliberate choices, emphasizing personal responsibility and moral accountability. This contrasts with determinism, which holds that every action is a result of prior causes. Essentially, agent-causation underscores the idea that people can initiate actions and are not merely passive recipients of external influences.
