AFP assay

AFP assay is a blood test that measures the level of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), a protein produced mainly by the liver and yolk sac during fetal development. In adults, elevated AFP levels can indicate liver diseases like hepatitis or cirrhosis, or tumors such as liver cancer or certain testicular cancers. The test helps doctors diagnose, monitor treatment, and check for cancer recurrence. It is typically used alongside other tests to provide a clearer picture of a person's health status.
