Affective Filter
The Affective Filter is a concept in language learning that describes how emotions and feelings can influence a person's ability to learn a new language. When someone feels anxious, self-conscious, or uninterested, their "affective filter" is high, which can block or hinder learning. Conversely, when they feel relaxed, confident, and motivated, the filter is low, making it easier to absorb and practice new language skills. Essentially, positive emotions create a conducive mental environment for learning, while negative emotions can act as barriers.
