Aegir (Norse mythology)
Aegir is a figure from Norse mythology known as the god of the sea. He is often depicted as a giant who hosts feasts for the gods in his underwater hall. Aegir is associated with the unpredictable nature of the ocean, both its beauty and its dangers. He is sometimes considered a personification of the sea itself. Aegir is married to Ran, a goddess who captures drowned sailors with her net. Together, they symbolize the dual aspects of the sea: as a provider and a perilous force. Aegir also has eight daughters, representing the waves.
