Adult HLH

Adult Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a rare, serious condition where the immune system becomes overly active, causing widespread inflammation and tissue damage. Normally, immune cells fight infections, but in HLH, these cells go into overdrive, attacking the body's own tissues. This can lead to symptoms like fever, liver dysfunction, low blood counts, and organ failure. HLH may be triggered by infections, cancers, or autoimmune diseases. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are critical to control the excessive immune response and improve outcomes.
