Adult ECLS

Adult ECLS (Extracorporeal Life Support) is a medical procedure that temporarily takes over the function of the heart and lungs when they are unable to do so on their own. Using a machine, blood is diverted from the body, oxygenated, and then re-circulated, allowing the heart and lungs to rest and recover. It is typically used in critical cases such as severe respiratory failure or cardiac failure, providing life-saving support when other treatments have failed. ECLS is a complex but vital technique that can significantly improve survival chances in critically ill adults.
