Adulis
Adulis was an ancient port city located on the Red Sea, significant in trade and commerce for the Kingdom of Aksum (modern-day Ethiopia and Eritrea) from around the 1st century AD. It served as a major hub for goods, connecting Africa with the Arabian Peninsula and beyond. Adulis facilitated the exchange of products like ivory, gold, and exotic textiles. The city also played a crucial role in the spread of Christianity in the region. Its decline began in the 7th century, and today, it is an archaeological site that provides insight into early trade networks and cultural exchanges.
