ADMET (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion, and Toxicity)
ADMET refers to the key factors that determine how a drug behaves inside the body. Absorption is how the drug enters your bloodstream after taking it. Distribution describes how it spreads through your tissues and organs. Metabolism involves how your body chemically changes the drug, usually in the liver. Excretion is how the body removes it, mainly via urine or feces. Toxicity assesses potential harmful effects the drug might cause. Together, ADMET helps scientists predict whether a drug will be effective and safe, guiding the development of new medicines.
