ADME (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion)
ADME describes how a drug moves through the body after administration. Absorption is how the drug enters your bloodstream, often from the stomach or intestines. Distribution is the process by which the drug spreads to different tissues and organs. Metabolism involves the body breaking down the drug, usually in the liver, turning it into forms that's easier to eliminate. Excretion is how the drug or its breakdown products leave the body, mainly through urine or feces. Together, ADME determines how effectively a drug works, how long it lasts, and helps ensure safe and appropriate dosing.
