Address Resolution Protocol

The Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) is a system used in computer networks to find the hardware address (MAC address) associated with an IP address. When a device wants to communicate with another device on the same local network, it needs the recipient's MAC address. ARP helps by sending a broadcast message asking, "Who has this IP address?" The device with that IP responds with its MAC address, allowing direct communication. ARP is essential for routing data properly within local networks, ensuring devices reach the correct hardware destination.
