Adaptive information processing (AIP) model
The Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model suggests that our brain naturally works to process and resolve distressing memories or experiences that are stored in a disrupted way. When certain memories are stuck, they can cause emotional issues or anxiety. AIP helps the brain re-organize these memories properly, allowing a person to heal and reduce distress. This process underpins therapies like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which aim to facilitate this natural healing by guiding the brain to properly process challenging experiences.
