Acute Stress

Acute stress is a temporary reaction to a challenging or demanding situation, such as an exam, job interview, or urgent problem. It triggers a real physical response, releasing hormones like adrenaline and cortisol, which prepare the body for "fight or flight." This can increase alertness, energy, and focus, but also cause physical sensations like rapid heartbeat or tense muscles. Usually, this stress eases once the situation passes. While short-term stress can motivate us, if it happens frequently or lasts too long, it may affect health and well-being.
