Acute Sinusitis
Acute sinusitis, or a sinus infection, occurs when the cavities around your nasal passages become inflamed and swollen, often due to a cold or allergies. This can lead to symptoms like nasal congestion, facial pain or pressure, headaches, and a thick nasal discharge. Acute sinusitis typically lasts less than four weeks and may resolve on its own, but sometimes requires medical treatment. While uncomfortable, most people recover fully with proper care, which may include rest, hydration, and over-the-counter medications to relieve symptoms. If symptoms persist or worsen, a doctor should be consulted.
