Acral Melanoma

Acral melanoma is a type of skin cancer that develops on the palms of the hands, soles of the feet, or under the nails. Unlike other melanomas, it is less related to sun exposure and more common in people of all skin types, including those with darker skin. It often appears as a new or changing pigmented spot, possibly with irregular borders or color. Early detection is crucial because acral melanoma can be aggressive and may spread if not treated promptly. If you notice any unusual changing spots on your hands, feet, or nails, consult a dermatologist for evaluation.
