Acolhuas

Acolhuas was an important ancient Nahua city-state located in the central highlands of Mexico, near present-day Mexico City. It existed from pre-Hispanic times until the early colonial period and played a significant role in regional politics and culture. Acolhuas was part of a network of city-states, engaging in alliances and conflicts, and contributed to the region's rich Mesoamerican history. Known for its political organization and cultural practices, it was eventually integrated into the expanding Aztec Empire before Spanish conquest. Today, Acolhua refers both to the historic site and to the indigenous people associated with that area.
