Acid Rain
Acid rain refers to precipitation that is more acidic than normal due to the presence of pollutants, primarily sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). These substances, often released by factories, vehicles, and power plants, combine with water vapor in the atmosphere to form sulfuric and nitric acids. When this acid-laden rain falls to the ground, it can harm ecosystems, damage buildings, and impact water supplies. Acid rain can lead to the degradation of soil and waterways, affecting plants, fish, and wildlife. Efforts to reduce emissions have been initiated to combat this environmental issue.
