ACI (Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation)
Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation (ACI) is a medical procedure used to repair damaged cartilage in joints, often the knee. It begins with a small sample of healthy cartilage cells (chondrocytes) taken from the patient. These cells are then grown in a lab until enough are available. Once prepared, the cells are implanted back into the damaged area, where they help rebuild healthy cartilage over time. ACI aims to restore joint function, reduce pain, and improve mobility, especially in cases where traditional treatments haven't been effective. It’s a regenerative approach focused on using the patient's own cells for repair.
