ACES Score

The ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Score measures the amount of adversity or stressful events a person experienced during childhood, such as abuse, neglect, or household dysfunction. Each type of experience counts as one point, and the total score helps identify how much childhood trauma someone may have endured. Higher ACES scores are linked to increased risks of health problems, mental health issues, and social challenges later in life. The score is used by healthcare providers to better understand a person’s background and to guide support and preventive care.
