Abu Sayyaf

Abu Sayyaf is a militant extremist group based in the Philippines, known for carrying out terrorism, kidnapping for ransom, and violent attacks. Originating in the early 1990s, it seeks to establish an independent Islamic state and has links to larger terrorist networks like Al-Qaeda. The group often targets civilians, security forces, and foreign travelers, especially in the southern Philippines, notably Mindanao.
