Absinthe Spoon
An absinthe spoon is a special, perforated or slotted utensil used in preparing the spirit absinthe. Traditionally, a sugar cube is placed on the spoon, which rests across a glass of absinthe. Cold water is then gradually dripped over the sugar, dissolving it and diluting the alcohol. This process creates a cloudy, milky appearance known as "louche," which is characteristic of absinthe. The spoon facilitates slow infusion, balancing the strong licorice-like flavor and enhancing the drink's aroma. It is both a functional tool and a traditional symbol of absinthe ritual.
